An Introduction to Shandatal
Birmans
Shandatal Birmans live in the heart
of the Warwickshire countryside
6 miles from Stratford-on-Avon, 8 miles from Evesham and 17 miles from
Worcester.
Although the Shandatals have now retired from breeding and showing, we thought that
you might like
the opportunity
to see some of our famous cats.
What
does "Shandatal" mean?
The prefix is taken from the names of Shirley Ann and David Talboys.

Who
are the "Talboys"?
Shirley is a retired Local Government Officer Shirley is currently the Show Manager for The Seal and Blue Point Birman Cat Club
but will be retiring from this position in October 2011.
David is now retired, but worked as a Model and Experimental Engineer
David has built and maintains all the cat houses for the Shandatals
When did it all begin?
In 1983. The first two Birmans to join the family were
Namrib Merlin (seal point) and Thelsun Anannika
(blue point).
Merlin was neutered and became a famous hunter in the Wixford
countryside.
Anannika was our first breeding queen and mother of
Champion and Grand Premier Shandatal Bryony Rose.
The first Shandatal litter was born on the 14th
May 1985.
Please have a look at the Shandatal Gallery where you will find photos of our two original studs:-
Champion Shandatal Blue Danube was gently put to sleep in February, 2001
but we thought you would like to have the opportunity to see this handsome boy,
who had been at stud for over 13 prolific years. Some of you may find his name in your pedigrees.
Danny had sired many prize winning Birmans here in the United Kingdom
and has descendants in many parts of the world.
Our beautiful seal stud was Gr Ch Shandatal Cristo Columbus.
Cristo was at stud for 8 years.
He died just three weeks before Blue Danube.
2001 was a very sad year for the Shandatals.
Our current feline family.....
We have 8 neutered cats living in the Shandatal household.
Shandatal Jackofhearts our most recent stud cat was neutered in early August 2011.
Ch & Pr Klassyklogs Kingkhayyam was also our former stud.
He was neutered in 2007 and now spends most of his life either lying on his back in the sunshine
during summer or snuggling up to a radiator in the winter! What a life!!
Our girls are:- Klassyklogs Kandystripes a blue tabby point,
Shandatal Adora and Shandatal Kristobelle, both seal points.
Adora has recently found fame in the Pedigree Pet Section of the GCCF Shows.
She has now retired with the title of Imperial Grand Master Cat Adora.
She also currently holds the TICA title of Double Grand Master.
Tigermoon Cordelia is just a little bit different....she is a chocolate point Siamese.
We also have Grand Master Cat (and TICA Quadruple Grand Master) Orlando
who is a red spotted tabby Non Pedigree. Ollie was a “regular” on the Non Pedigree show scene
until he decided that he hated the whole thing and made it very clear he wanted to stay at home.
He prefers to play hide and seek among the shrubs in the garden or climb to the top of the shed roof
to inspect the birds that live in leylandii hedge!!
Now we come to our eighth neuter.....we have left the best 'till last....................
