An Introduction to Shandatal Birmans

Shandatal Birmans live in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside
6 miles from Stratford-on-Avon, 8 miles from Evesham and 17 miles from Worcester.

What does "Shandatal" mean?
The prefix is taken from the names of Shirley Ann and David Talboys.

Sh of Shirley
an of Ann
da of David
tal of Talboys = Shandatal

Who are the "Talboys"?
Shirley is a retired Local Government Officer
She is a committee member for the Semi Long Hair Cat Association
David is now retired, but worked as a  Model and Experimental Engineer
David has built and maintains all the cat houses for the Shandatals

When did it all begin?
In 1983. The first two Birmans to join the family were
Namrib Merlin (seal point) and Thelsun Anannika (blue point).
Merlin was neutered and became a famous hunter in the Wixford countryside.
Anannika was our first breeding queen and mother of
Champion and Grand Premier Shandatal Bryony Rose.
The first Shandatal litter was born on the 14th May 1985.

The cats.....
Currently 8 cats reside in the Shandatal household.
Shandatal Jackofhearts is our stud cat and can be seen on his own
web page
Champion Shandatal Blue Danube
was gently put to sleep in February, 2001
but we thought you would like to have the opportunity to see this handsome boy,
who had been at stud for over 13 prolific years.
Danny had sired many prize winning Birmans here in the United Kingdom
and has descendants in many parts of the world.
He can be found on the Shandatal Gallery together with our beautiful seal boy,
Gr Ch Shandatal Cristo Columbus, who died just three weeks before Danny.
2001 was a very unhappy year for the Shandatals.

The breeding queens can be found on their web pages.
We currently have five neuters, Klassyklogs Kandystripes a blue tabby point,
and Shandatal Adora now retired, is a seal point.
 Tigermoon Cordelia
is just a little bit different....she is a chocolate point Siamese.
Ch Klassyklogs Kingkhayyam was at stud, but took early retirement in March 2007, and was neutered.
Now we come to our fifth neuter.....we have left the best 'till last....................
